Where else but Texas can one lay claim to a Luckenbach, a Deep Ellum AND an Armadillo World Headquarters? There are more blues houses, roadhouses and icehouses than Google can ever hope to catalogue — along with two of the biggest spectacles on the annual music calendar, both inside Austin's city limits. Texas is a great place to take in a live performance.

And nobody has seen more raw, indie talent than the owners of these storied pubs and clubs. Who better to assess the quality of a new talent or a new direction from an old talent than the people who gave the Stevie Rays, the Janis's, the Alejandros of the musical world their first shot.

An enormous portion of the Publik Music initiative is the continued health of the storied venues of Texas. We're asking the owners of some of the best-known clubs in the state to join us in our talent search - to help us identify the indie artists who will get a shot at a bigger stage - either appearing at some of those venerable locations or by getting a shot at appearing in the next Publik Music Texas Showcase - opening for headline acts at minor league ballparks.
