The late Stephen Bruton was onto something:

"You're listening to Publik Music. You are the public. You own the joint."

Indie music doesn't have a leg to stand on if there's nobody out there to listen to it. It thrives on live performance, so there needs to be somebody in the audience. We suspect there are a whole bunch of us out there with the same sensibilities. So, if you:

- ever drove more than two hours because it was a band you just had to see;

- talk more between sets than during them;

- text your friends to tell them to join you rather than to register your Idol vote;

- remember the best times of your life by the songs playing in the background ...

You may just be one of us. We need to stick together.
